The Gym Worcester
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 August 2026
1. Introduction
This policy explains how The Gym Worcester (operated by De Jagers Uitrusters) collects, uses and protects personal information, in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). It covers both this website and the information we collect from members in person at the Facility.
2. Information Collected Through This Website
This website itself does not run a contact form, account system, or advertising trackers. The only personal information it can collect is:
- Information you choose to send us directly, e.g. by emailing thegym@dejagers.co.za, calling 023 004 1588, or messaging us via WhatsApp or social media.
- Information you submit through our online membership sign-up widget, which is hosted by our membership management provider (iTensity) on their own site — their privacy terms apply to that page.
- Standard technical logs (e.g. IP address, browser type, pages visited) collected automatically by our hosting provider (Vercel) for security and performance purposes. We don't use this data for advertising or profiling, and we don't currently run analytics or marketing cookies on this site.
3. Information Collected In Person
When you join as a member, you complete a membership agreement at the Facility. This may include your name, ID number, contact details, home address, emergency contact, banking details (for debit order payments), and — where relevant — a parent or guardian's consent if you're under 18. This information is collected and processed strictly for membership administration, billing, and health and safety on the premises, and is not collected or stored through this website.
4. How We Use Your Information
- To respond to enquiries and manage your membership.
- To process membership payments, including debit order collections, via our payment processor.
- To contact you about your membership, tariff changes, or matters relating to your use of the Facility.
- To meet our legal, health and safety obligations.
5. Sharing Your Information
We don't sell your personal information. We share it only where necessary — for example, with our payment processor to collect debit orders, or with our online membership sign-up provider (iTensity) if you join via the website widget — and only to the extent needed to provide these services.
6. Data Security & Retention
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to keep your personal information secure. Membership records are retained for as long as reasonably necessary to administer your membership and meet our legal and financial record-keeping obligations, after which they are securely disposed of.
7. Your Rights
Under POPIA, you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you, and request a copy.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate or outdated information.
- Ask us to delete your information, subject to any legal or financial retention requirements.
- Object to how your information is used, or withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe your information has been mishandled.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.
8. Children's Privacy
Membership is generally only open to members 18 and older. Where a minor is authorised to join with parental or guardian consent, that consent also covers the collection and use of the minor's information as described in this policy.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
